To deliver core launcher functionality, DownShift Launcher may request certain system permissions. All data accessed through these features is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted anywhere:

• Contacts Access: If you explicitly grant the optional contacts permission, DownShift can search your local contacts directly from the app drawer. This data stays entirely on your device.
• Notifications Access: Utilized locally to display unread-count indicator dots on app icons. The app checks local notification metadata purely for badge rendering and never reads or stores message contents.
• Usage Access (App Usage Stats): Used locally to rank app drawer suggestions based on your personal app launch frequency to improve your launcher experience.
• Device Admin API: Optional feature utilized solely to enable the lock/sleep-on-double-tap gesture.
• Media & Storage Access: Used locally for selecting custom wallpapers and handling user-initiated app backup and restore files.

3. Third-Party Services & Weather Data

If you utilize features like our weather widget, requests are made directly to standard public meteorological providers. No personal identifiers, user accounts, or precise location coordinates are tied to these requests.
